To ensure we are supporting the entire learner, KTEC High School understands that we must support opportunities that support the entire child. Please check back frequently for updates that might be of interest to your student or family.

Headrush Parent Information

Stay informed about your child’s progress with the Guardian Portal on Headrush. This platform allows you to access all details of your child’s educational journey at any time. To help you navigate Headrush more effectively, we have compiled a Frequently Asked Questions section. Here, you can learn where to start, how to see what your child has accomplished, what they need to do next, and where they can upload evidence. Discover how to view and set due dates, access feedback from advisors, and understand your child’s grades and overall progress.

COVID Protocol

COVID-19 has elevated the awareness of the importance of infection prevention and control in the school setting. The basics of infection prevention include:

  • Staying home (not coming to school or work) when you are ill (seeking medical attention when necessary)
  • Cleaning and disinfecting classrooms, materials, and surfaces
  • Providing good ventilation and air flow
  • Washing hands and using good cough etiquette (using hand sanitizer if water is not available and covering your cough)

While masks may not be required in schools, any individual who wishes to continue to mask, including those who face higher risk from COVID-19, will be supported in that choice.

KTEC High School encourages families to follow the Kenosha County Health Department guidance on COVID-19.

KTEC’s COVID protocol will be made available in other languages or accessible formats upon request.

Lead in Water Report

Dear KTEC High School Community:

KTEC High School would like to provide an update on our efforts to reduce potential exposure to lead from school drinking water by taking steps that include testing for lead in drinking water in our school and sharing the sampling results.

Lead is a toxic metal. When children and others are exposed to lead it can have adverse health effects. “Exposure” to lead in drinking water means that children or staff consume water that contains lead through drinking or food preparation.

As part of our program, KTEC High School developed a plan to test lead in all drinking water fountains and other outlets where students and staff get water for drinking and cooking. The state required program lead remediation level in drinking water samples is 15 ppb. When a lead sample is detected at or above this level, we take immediate steps to address the source of lead to protect children and staff.

The sampling results of our program and our next steps are as follow:

  • On 3/27/24, we tested 22 fixtures throughout our school. This included the hallway and classroom drinking water fountains, bathroom sinks, drinking water fountains in the gym and recreational fields, and all kitchen faucets including in areas not in use by KTEC High School which included the 3rd floor and concession areas.
  • Sample results show lead was detected at/above the remediation level in 4 fixtures. For the remaining 18 fixtures, lead was detected below 15 ppb.
  • In response to the sampling results, we are taking immediate action on the 4 fixtures that showed lead levels at/above the program remediation level of 15 ppb. These fixtures have been removed from service, while more permanent measures are underway. Additionally, these are in areas of the building that KTEC High School currently does not utilize.
  • For the 18 fixtures that lead was detected below the remediation level, we are implementing routine flushing and removing the fixtures from service to further minimize potential exposure.

You can view the detailed sample results and remediation plans at the following link. Protecting the health and wellbeing of your child(ren) is our top priority and we
are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way as we implement our program.

Sincerely,
Stacey Duchrow
