2023-24 Year In Review
During the 2023-2024 school year, KTEC High School students greatly benefited from their partnership with Gateway Technical College. Here are some key highlights:
Credits Earned:
A total of 332 credits were issued to 58 students, saving parents and students $53,784 in tuition costs.
- Math: 120 credits
- English: 95 credits
- Pathway Relevant Coursework: 117 credits
80% of the credits offered were successfully earned by students.
Gateway Academy Completion:
Four students completed Gateway Academy programs in Welding, Advanced Manufacturing, and Liberal Arts.
NC3 Certifications:
- 2022-2023: 511 certifications
- 2023-2024: 429 certifications
Total Over 2 Years: 940 certifications

Teachers met with Kyle Wagner, a world-renowned project-based learning coach and founder of Transform Education Consulting Limited to help our staff create project-based experiences for our students in the areas of content.

Design Thinking Project
School wide design thinking project which students worked to solve various community issues such as reducing crime, teen mental health, beautifying the community through art, and finding ways to keep our shoreline clean.
Students created the first student-leading after-school club under the direction of Ms. Newman. Students participated in Art club and met after school every Thursday to participate in a variety of art projects and special guest facilitators.

KABA Inspire Event
Our student ambassadors participated in KABA’s Inspire event and were able to hear the President of Snap-on tools speak about the future of the company and their talent needs. They were also able to create work on networking and communication skills.
Field Trips
On October 20th we had the pleasure of visiting Food and Beverage Wisconsin’s “Farm, Factory, Fork Career Discovery Event.” Our students had the unique opportunity to dive into the world of food-related careers. They explored everything from farm to factory to fork, discovering the many exciting possibilities within the food and beverage industry. It was a day filled with culinary creativity, innovation, and a taste of the future!
Students also attended “Build My Future SE Wisconsin,” where they explored the vast world of construction trades. They got hands-on experience, learned from industry experts, and witnessed the power of skilled craftsmanship. The construction field offers endless opportunities, and our students left feeling inspired to build a future of their own!
Both of these field trips were truly eye-opening, offering our students a glimpse into promising career paths they may not have considered before.

Denver, CO
KTEC traveled to Denver, Colorado to work with Snap on and NC3 to help strengthen the alignment of industry recognized and stackable credentials.
First Automotive Youth Apprentice
KTEC announced its first youth apprentice in the automotive career pathway with Autoworld. Gavin is a talented and passionate young individual who is embarking on an incredible journey with us as he begins his youth apprenticeship as an automotive technician. Thank you to CESA 6 and Auto World for their support in helping create this opportunity.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers
Society of Manufacturing Engineers toured KTEC with the girls scouts of northern Ohio to learn about STEM and certifications.
Welding Project
Our welding academy student participated in repairing an art installation in downtown Racine.
Empowering Student Careers with Innovative Pathways with CoderZ Collaboration
Our Tech 2 students gave feedback to Coder Z on their Python Gym course as part of our industry partnership with CoderZ.
KTEC High School and Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated’s Journey in STEM Education
KTEC students worked with Trevor Wilmot to create a 3D printed item to give to a 5th grader while utilizing their 3D printing skills learning through their NC3 certification.
KABA Luncheon
Principal Stacy Duchrow attended Kenosha Area Business Alliance’s Generative AI: Riding the Wave of Digital Transformation luncheon. The keynote presentation focused on the new business models and technologies that are shaping our students’ future.

2023
Kent City School District Visit
Leaders from Kent City School District (Kent, Ohio) were in Kenosha to learn more about how students at KTEC High School are preparing for high-skill, high-demand careers. Student ambassadors shared information about their technical courses, character development, and opportunities to earn college credits while in high school. This is one example of an opportunity where KTEC High School students have a voice in helping to shape and lead future education and network with industry leaders.
Door Decoration
Students decorated classroom doors in anticipation of our “Winter Wonderland” dance! This work was completed in our C3 class which allows our teachers to leverage future ready workplace skills. This project included team building, communication, idea generation, reflection, planning , self-monitoring, and goal setting. Each team created a budget, task list, and created student led roles/responsibilities.
Shalom Center Toiletry Drive
Students partnered with Shalom Center to create a toiletry drive. In a virtual meeting, Tamarra Coleman, Shalom Center Executive Director, lent her expertise to help us brainstorm ideas that truly make a difference. The drive ran up to the formal dance on January 20th.

Students sorted and delivered all of the generous toiletry drive donations to Shalom Center.
Finals Actathon
We hosted our first Finals Actathon, revolutionizing the way we assess learning. Instead of the usual pen-and-paper finals, our students engaged in a hands-on, project-based learning experience.
During our professional development day on January 3rd, our staff, guided by Kyle Wagner – a renowned project-based learning coach and founder of Transform Educational Consulting Limited – crafted an ACTIVE weeklong learning experience. Wagner, who has worked with over 1,000 educators globally, helped us create a platform for our students to showcase their semester’s learning innovatively.
This Actathon not only allowed our students to demonstrate their knowledge but also fostered creativity, problem-solving, and real-world application.
UW-Milwaukee forged exclusive transfer agreements with four top-notch technical colleges. This means seamless transitions for our students with dual credits upon their completion of their associate degree!
Winter Wonderland Dance
Students danced the night away at the Winter Wonderland Dance.
Guam Community College Visit
We were honored to host the President and Board Chair of Guam Community College at KTEC High School! They paid us a special visit to explore our dynamic partnerships with Snap-on Tools and Gateway Technical College.
One of the standout moments of their trip was engaging with our incredible student ambassadors! The visitors were truly impressed by the poise and dedication of our students, who showcased their commitment to applied learning.

2024
Mechatronics Camp
Our manufacturing-focused students helped to bring a Mechatronics Camp to Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District! This hands-on camp was designed for eager 6th-8th graders to dive into the world of mechatronics.
Our KTEC students mentored these young learners, guiding them toward their NC3 certification. Together, they explored the ins and outs of programming and operating a mini manufacturing line, using real-world tools such as sensors, PLCs, and various automation equipment – the same technology powering companies like HARIBO USA right in our backyard!
School Beautification Project
Our students rolled up their sleeves to take part in our school beautification project! It was a hands-on lesson in responsibility, respect, and caring for our community. By getting involved, our students stepped up to take ownership of their environment, showing appreciation for the hard work of our janitorial staff, and learning the true value of stewardship.

KTEC High School students became part of a celestial phenomenon, witnessing and participating in a historical eclipse event.
SkillsUSA State Drone Competition
KTEC HS SkillsUSA chapter participated in Engineering Design and commercial sUAS drone competition at state. Our drone team took 2nd in the state.
