New KTEC Schools of Innovation Opening Fall 2025!
Dear KTEC Community,
I’m writing to share some exciting news about the future of KTEC.
Pending official approval, KTEC High School is poised to expand to serve additional grades, paving the way for us to open a new elementary (grades 4K-5) and middle school (grades 6-8) this fall. Together with KTEC High School, these schools will collectively be known as KTEC Schools of Innovation. Upon formal approval, they will be overseen by the University of Wisconsin’s Office of Educational Opportunity (OEO) and will be located at the Saint Mary’s School campus that currently houses KTEC High School.
We chose the name KTEC Schools of Innovation because the future of Wisconsin jobs lies in innovation, as technology, globalization, and the demand for creative solutions rapidly transform industries. The name reflects our mission across all grade levels to provide rigorous academics and hands-on learning, preparing students for college and successful careers in Wisconsin’s innovation economy. KTEC Schools of Innovation will partner with local industry leaders such as Krones, Weldstar, and Aviation Advisors; global industry leaders including Snap-on, Inc., Trane, Lincoln Electric, and Festo; and higher education institutions like Gateway Technical College and Carthage College.
The KTEC Schools Board of Directors has asked me to lead KTEC Schools of Innovation, and I have enthusiastically agreed. When I launched the initial KTEC model 17 years ago, my vision was to one day provide a seamless, STEM-focused, college and career-prep pathway from the first day of 4-year-old Kindergarten through the last day of high school. KTEC Schools of Innovation ensures that we can offer a 4K-12 grade program on one campus.
As KTEC Schools of Innovation announces its expansion to grades 4K-12, another chapter of KTEC is coming to an end. The KTEC 4K-8 charter school located at the Lincoln Middle School site will cease operations on January 24, 2025, following a mutual agreement between the KTEC Governing Board and the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD). KTEC Schools of Innovation will carry on the legacy of providing a free, public, high-quality education to Kenosha students that is grounded in our core values: Caring, Connecting, and Innovating.
We’re proud of what we have accomplished here in Kenosha, and we’re excited to prepare a new generation of students for a future that’s still being written!
